We weren't particular surprised by Chevrolet's unveiling of a Tahoe Police Concept Car at SEMA, as it seemed a perfectly natural use for the truck, and we weren't surprised today when news broke that the Tahoe was going to be offered in law-enforcement spec to police agencies around the country. With stiff competition from the Dodge Durango and the tremendously popular Ford Explorer PPV, a cop-spec 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe, makes perfect sense. The Chevrolet Tahoe PPV will debut with the new fuel-efficient 5.3-liter direct-injection V8 engine, which produces 335 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque.
The disel engined Infiniti EX - The Infiniti EX30d
The start of the month saw Infiniti divvying up details of the diesel engined FX30d for the UK, and in the next step in giving their cars more Euro-appeal we have details of the compact crossover diesel from Nissan’s luxury division – the Infiniti EX30d. The EX30d gets the same diesel engine as the FX30d, namely a 3.0 litre V6 with graphite iron block (all the better for saving weight and adding smoothness) delivering 235bhp which – in the smaller EX30d – is sufficient to get to 60mph in 7.7 seconds and return 33.2mpg. Emissions are 227g/km.
Chrysler Group has delayed introduction of a fuel-saving automatic transmission so it can make the shift patterns more palatable to U.S. drivers--the latest sign that a key tool in automakers' plans to meet tougher fuel-economy rules needs some fine-tuning. Two weeks ago, Ford Motor Co., which uses a similar dual-clutch transmission in its Fiesta and Focus, took a hit in Consumer Reports' annual reliability survey because many drivers complained about balky shifting.
